Pre-vegetated mats are sod-like, pre-germinated mats that achieve immediate full plant coverage. These mats are lightweight and easy to install. DIAflor vegetation mats have 95 percent coverage or better. They are typically planted with sedum cuttings, but upon request Diadem can customize the mat size and plant selection. Pre-vegetated mats quickly establish on a green roof and provide immediate erosion control and minimize weed intrusion. After the establishment period, pre-vegetated mats require minimal maintenance with little watering and weeding.

Although pre-vegetated products have typically a bigger carbon footprint, than using Sedum cuttings, they are still useful in certain market segments such as clients in need of instant green. Diadem sedum tiles are pre-cut to 12" × 24" rectangles, which can easily be delivered and installed, even to hard-to-access roofs.
