003. Description of Detail
To accommodate deeper intensive soil depths, installation of a pony wall is typically required. Though not mandatory, it is best if this structure is connected directly to the roof deck, with building envelope layers running uninterrupted from edge to edge. Pony walls can be made out of precast units laying in crushed stone beds, or using poured-in-place concrete curbs, landscaping timbers, etc. If necessary, a concrete footing can be poured using the dd40h as the base, ensuring unhindered drainage under the wall. Adjustable pedestals can be installed over dd40h drainage boards, if filled with the appropriate drain aggregate. Please verify the load-bearing capacity of the underneath layers such as thermal insulation.
